Tattoo of the Week

Kain Packwood

Country: United States

State: California

Fire Dept: Turlock City

Years on job: 11

Rank: Firefighter (private)

Description: This tattoo is 13 years in the making. The "End of the Trail" symbolizes the end of a journey. I chose this because it represents my younger brothers death. It is on his headstone and reminds me of his incredible fight with cancer that started at the age of 14 and ended at the age of 17.

You call also see that the horse has a “343” brand
in memory of our fallen FDNY brothers. The Native American is wearing a Maltese Cross on his back to protect him.
I spent the earlier part of my career working as a paramedic for a private ambulance company. The “Star of life” represents this as well as my ongoing commitment to each of the 6 points symbolized in the star: Detection, Reporting, Response, On Scene Care, Care in Transit, and
Transfer to Definitive Care.

I am a professional firefighter and the flames represent this. In this tattoo the “End of the Trail” and the “Star of Life” fuels the fire and the fire supports and holds them close in a symbiotic relationship.
